NOMAN's Mining Guide
The NOMAN’s Mining Guide gives impulses and things to think about - take it as a baseline.
Mining is the most challangeing and complex profession in the ‘Verse.
Aspects of exploring, scanning, mining itself but also strategically choose your refinary station as well as mineable Ore’s and Raw’s according to the #TradeRun - the most rewardable aspect of mining, selling your refined commodities.
The challange to find and crack the biggest rock with the highest tier composition is the challange we happily accept.
Types of Mining Link to heading
There are three types of mining activities:
FPS Mining Link to heading
FPS mining are mining activites planetery side, on moons or in caves. This is one of the most effordable opportinity to start a mining career.
Vehicle Mining Link to heading
Vehicle mining requieres ground vehicles and happens planetary side or on moons.
At the moment there are 3 ground vehicles available.
These vehicles have S0-sized mining laser heads.
Ship Mining Link to heading
Ship mining requieres a ship with mining lasers attached to it and happens planetary side or on moons. You also can mine asteorids out in the void.
At the moment there are 3 mining ships available.
These ships have S1 or S2-sized mining laser heads.
- Drake Golem (Starter Pack)
- MISC Prospector
- ARGO Mole

Strategies To Consider Link to heading
- Practice is king! Especially mining laser heads with modules attached to it as well as Mining Gadgets
- Never fly empty to the refinery!
- Low quantity with high tier mineables for maximizing profit per SCU (#primary commodity)
- Medium quantity with medium tier mineables for levaraging profit SCU (#secondary commodity)
- Mass quantity with common minerables (#filler commodity)
- Utilize the specialization of refineries
- Respect the limits of inventory and refineries workload
- Respect the limits of your ships cargo capacity
- Loan before buy
- Rent before buy

Depending on the mining site (low / high temperature)
- Undersuit & Helmet (1.5k)

A dedicated vehicle or ship as listed above.
#Refineries Link to heading
Refinary Station Link to heading
Spread throughout the ‘Verse are several space station that holds a #Refinary (4 in Pyro / 12 in Stanton). Some of these refineries have spezializations which means, they refine more #yield for that specific mineable.
We utilize UEXcorp as main source of “inspiration”.
Refineries Yields Bonuses and Workloads Link to heading
Depending on fluctuations on the market, or event driven activities, refineries may have more or less workloads. The consequences are variation in refinery fees and processing time.
Average market values of refined mineables are listed on UEXcorp.
We neglect workload and fees but differenciate in mineable classes (tier list). To have a glance on the bigger picture, this mineable classification (tier list) is equivalent to the trading classification.
Mineables, Commodities, Tier List Link to heading
On severeal resources you’ll find tier-list of mineables and commodities. We talk classify in primary, secondary and filler goods.
The reason is simple - if you only focus on capital, you’ll leave out the aspects of logistic, planing and organization!
Due tue continues changes of methods and functions over the whole mining process, our classification - as a guide - doesn’t bother changes like detachable Ore Pods and group mining activities.

Mining Runs & Go’s Link to heading
- A #MiningRun has a start and an end. You take out your mining gear, vehicle or ship, explore, crack and mine and bring the goods to the #refinery to refine or sell the Ore/Raw directly.
- If you only do one take out and work order, that is considered to be “One Go”. If you finish mining, that is “One Run” as well. Each Go is a refinery work order or “Ore Sell” (1:1).
- But if you continue mining, to refine a certain amount of SCU per mineable, then you do a “Second Go” (2:1).
- One Go can be One Run (1:1).
- Multiple Go’s in One Run (n:1).
Our focus Mining Runs is doing multiple Gos, for the fun, the exploration, the challange, the logistics and of course the #profit.
Profit (/ˈprɑː.fɪt/) Link to heading
- Money that is earned in trade or business after paying the costs of producing and selling goods and services.
- Profit is the money earned by a business when its total revenue exceeds its total expenses.
- Gross profit subtracts only the direct cost of producing goods from the total revenue.
- Operating profit takes into account both the cost of goods sold and operating expenses such as selling, general, and administrative costs.
- Net profit, or the bottom line, is the money left over after subtracting all expenses from total revenue.
- Revenue (vs. Profit) is the total amount of sales generated by a business for its goods or services.
How To Calculate Profit Link to heading
- To calculate profit, you need to take the revenue from above, subtract all expenses, then take away any deductions.
- This difference is the final amount of money that was gained after all transactions were completed.
- Expenses - refueling, food and drinks
- Extraordinary expenses - repair, initial invest in gear, armor, utility and rental services
- To simplify we calculate “(-invest+revenue)/commodity = profit/commodity” (for further analysis and splitting into trading go’s) - (gross profit)
- To summarize we erradicate the commodities but subtract the all expenses to get the profit per run “(-invest+revenue)-expenses = profit” - (net profit)
Tips & Tricks Link to heading
Things To Do Link to heading
You can follow blindly, or you’ll feel the consequence
- Focus on max. 2 mineables (primary/secondary) per Go
- Choose refineries with specializations
- Choose refineries according to mineables and selling spots
- Store mining pods for work orders in order to create bigger boxes
- Study rock/asteorid composition for clean cuts and “pure” yields
- Consider filter function (Freight Manager)
- Make mining unattractive to pirates (Port Lock, secondary/filler)
- Repair instead of buying
Things To Avoid Link to heading
The Lord of Bug Citizen will hit you at one point
- Loose Ore Pods to piracy (Port Lock)
- Off-Gridded cargo may get stuck in the ship, place them carefully
- Off-Gridded cargo may get lost while in the hole to Pyro
- Expect piracy in Pyro - don’t unload, while player are there
- Expect piracy in Pyro - unload & store high value fast & first
To Consider Link to heading
Things to consider as a Miner: Link to heading
- You need a Pyro RYT Multi-Tool with TruHold Tractor Beam Attachment (less than 1k aUEC) for traverse Ore Pods.
- You need a Pyro RYT Multi-Tool with OreBit Mining Attachment (less than 1k aUEC) for (sponataneous) FPS Mining.
- You don’t need but maybe want a MaxLift Tractor Beam (20k aUEC) to traverse Ore Pods further than 20 meters.
- It’s recommanded to have armors with enough capacity for food and drinks (Heavy Core Armor and a Helmet).
- It’s recommanded to have a backpack for food and drinks but also for loots, while waiting for the commodity cycle (Heavy Backpack combined with Heavy Core Armor).
- If your reputation is “not eligable” or “hostile” in Pyro, stay out of turrets fire range.
- You can rent Greycat ROC (1 Laser Heads - 2.6k/day) at any Refinery Station except in Pyro.
- You can rent MISC Prospector (1 Laser Heads - 74k/day) at any Refinery Station except in Pyro.
- You can rent Argo Mole (3 Laser Heads - 224k/day) at any Refinery Station except in Pyro.
- You can rent RSI Constellations (Taurus) in New Babbage, microTech.
